Kind of silly I realize, but creating your own seasonings for food and making that food go from blah to whoa Nelly is amazing.
I found a Pin on how to create your own taco seasoning. Who really thinks of these things, unless you are Rachel Ray of course, but I figured why not. The only ingredient I didn’t have, was the Onion Powder and that cost me about $3.00. Now if you didn’t have all the ingredients, it would probably cost you about $15.00-18.00 (on name brand) depending on if you can find good sale prices on the spices. Though if you have the super Dollar Tree in your neighborhood you could find all the spices for a buck each and only spend $5.00…Obviously the best and smartest deal.
So all that said, if you specifically used all the ingredients for the taco seasoning, you could get an entire year’s worth of seasoning. And how many times do you eat tacos, burritos, fajitas or enchiladas? Because you would use this as the base then add-on or more! So cool! And super easy, too!
Taco Seasoning, 1 serving
1 Tbsp Chili Powder
1 Tbsp Ground Cumin
1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
1 Tbsp Onion Powder
1 Tsp Crushed Red Pepper
1. Measure out all ingredients and put into spice jar or small bowl. Mix together either with the spoon or close the lid and shake it up.
2. Use all or some.
After dropping all the ingredients into my bowl, I was surprised to see what actually is in the taco seasoning. I figured on black pepper and definitely salt, but nope. Neither of those went in it. And it was nice knowing I wasn’t adding anything unnatural either.
So in mine, I doubled all the ingredients because I was going to make a taco casserole (recipe to come), and I knew it would be a double batch that I needed. It was good too!!
