Do you ever find that food and money go hand-in-hand? If you are doing well with one (not eating to much, perfect portion control) then the other gets crazy (spending way to much money, or having to have that perfect thing)? Or have you found that sleep, or lack there of, makes the other issues get out of hand? That was this week for me. Here is my New Years Resolutions – Week 4 Update, plus a new goal…!
Going to put it out there. A goal I have kept close to the chest. After being truly inspired by Laura from This is Thirty and specifically her 2014 goals…ugh…I am going to say it…I am going to train for my second half-marathon…. EEEEEK!!! I wrote it so I can’t take it back right? I had originally only texted my mom this goal, on the condition that if I got a new job in San Antonio I would train for this, because I wouldn’t be spending money moving to a new location. Because I want to do the half in Chicago in August. But I need workout help, or maybe therapy but whatever. So I am going to train. And if a new job takes me to a new location at least I will have running under my belt. (My first half, two years ago, was so intense with a serious health condition afterwards I have been too intimidated to do it again).
Also, I am going to continue with Pinterest monthly challenges. The plank challenge was truly a challenge. I got some great biceps out of it, but not really any abs that I can see. But I really did enjoy the challenge not on the fitness aspect, but the challenge of continuing to do it! For Feb I am going to do a 28 progressive squats, crunch / sit-up and push-ups challenge. Progressive meaning each day will be more than the last and there will be no rest days. This will be a toughy, because by day 28 you will be doing 100 squats and 60 sit ups. Yuck! And I made this one myself after finding one on Pinterest (I changed it around and made it a little harder than the one on P)! And for the monthly training plan I added some more jogging and a little longer on the weekends.
Okay, so now for my weekly update. This week was an odd one. I only had to work last Thursday and Friday, but Thursday I woke up and the scale and gone up 1.5 pounds…and threw me for a head trip. And totally messed with my eating … yes I sabotaged myself, I admit it. Then Friday we had the Great Freeze of the year here in San Antonio and work was closed until noon. A great thing let me tell you; however, that meant no getting to the gym so I did a workout video at home. And wow, have I 1. not done kickboxing in a very long time, and 2. I can tell that I have also not been to a gym with workout classes in a long time. I don’t know why the workouts I do at the gym and the strength training that I push myself on don’t live up to at-home workout videos. Sheesh. Talk about pain! Then to top it all off, my sleeping got out of whack. Up at 3:30am on Saturday led to waaaay to much time sitting around. Then 5am Sunday, 4am on Monday. By Monday night I was useless for anything other than sitting around.
Also, as for eating. Another admittance. My name is Megan, and I have portion control and after work eating issues! I am great all day at work, then I come home and bam! It’s a lets eat time. Anything is fair game. And I don’t even have crap food in my house! I just eat. And what does eating do? Cause weight gain. So the self-sabotaging did what it was supposed to, and made me gain weight. Total let down, and all due to me, myself, and I. Next week will be better – for one, I will not be baking! I can’t even blame this weeks gain on baking (everything I made went to work and coworkers!) but, I am not going to make anything and will only buy veggies to try and combat myself.
So now for the real update:
Weight & Inches
Total from Last Week: +2.2lbs, -1.5in
Total from the 1st: -2.4lbs, -7in
Train along with me with February Training Plan and Challenges!
So how has your week been? Let me know how your resolutions are going, I love other peoples positive progress more so than mine 🙂
Get some killer abs, arms, legs and a butt to bounce a coin off of…or at least torture yourself along with me!
Yay! You got this, grl!
It’s inevitable that real life will occasionally get in the way of any great plan – so for a day or two you ate too much. It’s normal, and because you’re obviously a warrior – you’ll shake it off and move on! Love your ‘will do’ attitude!!! Can’t wait to hear more about your half-marathon training.
