New Years Resolutions – Week 37 Update

Better to haveI made it through a full work week, a weekend alone, a full day of cooking, and started my second week at my job. And let me tell you it started a whole lot less confusing then last week did, and I was tasked with a couple easy projects for management and got a thanks on both. Here is my New Years Resolutions – Week 37 Update.

DC

Good morning from DC!

So the rest of last week at work was very annoying in that nothing was making sense. There are so many acronyms to remember, and I work for three different branches and for the division so there are a ton of people to remember also. Just frustrating when I want to retain everything I am being taught. But this week has been tons better and I am remembering some things. The lead staff is out at training the rest of the week so we shall see how confused I will get trying to get things done without having someone to ask questions of.

Alexandria Farmers MarketAlexandria Farmers MarketMy weekend was good, if not a little lonely, seeing as this was my first weekend in many months that I wasn’t around other people. I had a good Saturday by going to Alexandria’s Old Town and walking around and seeing how much it has changed since I was here before. And man it has changed! What never ceases to amaze me is seeing buildings that were built in the 1800s and still have that old character and look, now housing name brand stores. When I left all that was there were the Gap and Banana Republic Outlets – in stores on the street! Not a mall, which is surprising in itself seeing as they are outlets. But now there is a Loft, White House Black Market, and H&M! H&M people! Luckily, I am broke for the time being so I didn’t go into any of the stores and look around, but now I know where to go for laid back shopping and sightseeing all wrapped up into one! I also went to the farmers marks and was really disappointed that everything was so expensive. They were all competing prices with each other, which is understandable, but I went with a huge list to get fresh veg for my next two weeks of meals and to support local farmers, but man. I couldn’t afford anything. And you know its bad when you go to Whole Foods right after to use coupons to stock your freezer ($50 worth of groceries for $25!) and you see a huge head of cauliflower for cheaper than the market!

As for Sunday, well there is no public transportation where I live on Sundays so that is my self-imposed day to get things done – cooking, baking, laundry, writing. Nothing different with that then any other time, since I like to have a day to do nothing but veg before going back to work, but now this really has to be the case since I don’t have access to a vehicle.

And if you are looking for a good cause and some awesome motivation to get you moving, go see my SIL over at Kids Stuff World who is copartnering on #MomsRun4Good. Go learn more about this initiative to run 27.2 miles in the next 27 days – that is only one mile a day, and you don’t have to run – walk it, skip it, crawl it, whatever. Just help some kids – and you don’t have to be a mom. Aunts are awesome too!

So how has your week been?
