Well July was a lot more interesting that I thought it would be … and dang hot! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. Gah, I hate humidity!! It is gross! Especially when it is 80 degrees at 5am and 60% humidity – as I’m going to the gym. So when your done? Nasty! But my days were going good, got some good workouts in, out on a couple of weekends. Here is my July recap and August 2015 – New Year, New Resolution.
Wow, what a month. First off my workouts have been okay and good. For some reason I do good one week – working out five mornings and adding three 30 minute workouts after work – but then the next week my body is exhausted and won’t get out of bed. Am I getting old? Yuck! But those tired weeks I just let myself sleep and tried not to stress and got to the gym a couple of times after work. I made my Saturdays count though! This past Saturday my goal had been to jog around the Mall like I had tried to do at the beginning of June … but wow, did I psych myself up and out! Since I felt like I could barely jog one mile, I made myself walk a distance more than I had intended. I had originally meant to jog that same route, about four miles, but since I just couldn’t get myself to do it, I walked and periodically jogged a total of 6.2ish miles! And I even walked over the bridge from Lincoln Memorial to Arlington Cemetery which has been a goal of mine since moving here! So yay me! I was totally happy with that outcome! As for the interviews I had in June and the couple in early July – well I got the “you suck” letter (no it doesn’t say that, but it is how it feels to get turned down) on one of them which I was okay with because I didn’t really want it. I haven’t heard from the second one at all, and had reference checks on the third. That one has me stressing like no one’s business cause it’s in Sacramento … which is another move, another chunk of serious change to even get there (and break my apartment lease!) and when I get there. Fortunately I have family that will take me in, but I would need wheels to get around. Gah! So who knows what August has in store for me job-wise. My mindset is pretty much an If it happens, It happens – but the money to move has me stressing. And last … the heat! Why oh why does DC have to be so dang muggy! And at 5am? It wouldn’t be so horrible if I didn’t wear makeup – I mean, really! Sweating after a workout, then while putting makeup on then going out to work? Blech. Then it is so hot and humid on Saturdays that I can’t do anything outside – last weekend was the first Saturday of the summer it didn’t rain (they even said that on the news, so I am not exaggerating!) and the first it wasn’t muggy-gross. Hoping the heat and humidity lesson in August!
So for my July resolution – OMG can you say awesome? Finally, I had a resolution that I stuck to or didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. Even on the days when I worked out after getting off work and wouldn’t get home until almost 6, I was totally fine just eating a little then being done. This was my easiest resolution … and will be one I am going to really work on keeping up with. It feels good to go to bed and not feel stuffed or feel guilty for snacking after dinner. If I had a need for something then I just got a glass of juice or chocolate soymilk and that was it. Very proud of this one!
Now for August. I will go into the why’s and how-to’s in tomorrow’s post, but my resolution for the month of August is to do an elimination diet. All it really is, is a cleanse or just plain ole clean eating, but stricter. A few years ago I went hard-core clean eating – didn’t eat any sugar (except my coffee creamer, chocolate soy milk, and crystal light) and only ate what I made. Well I am doing it again, and yes for my weight but also because I have had hive-like allergies ever since I went vegetarian 14 years ago. I never found out what caused it, so I feel like I am in a good enough head-space to cut everything. It’s going to be super, duper tough this time, since it will be all liquids that I’m cutting out. No. Chocolate. Soy Milk!
So? What are your resolutions for August? How have your resolutions been going so far?
