So let me say this again – I am in DC! Been here for a week now; mom left last Saturday morning – little traumatic for me being all alone again, but I kept myself busy with unpacking everything and trying to organize what was in my four suitcases that I brought along and the five boxes that I shipped to myself. And I am not done unpacking yet. Here is my New Years Resolutions – Week 36 Update.
Mom and I had gotten a lot done in the two full days she was with me, but it felt like we didn’t do much. It took us awhile to figure out the apartment once we got here, then figure out where to shop to get everything I needed … cause there is no Walmart near me! Seriously! So it took us forever to cab around to all the places we went, but I did find out it’s really easy to get to the Target and the neighborhood I live in is very beautiful with old-world looking houses. Will be great to walk around it on weekends. But after I dropped mom off early Saturday morning at the airport I took the train to find my new employment location, then went to Alexandria to the Whole Foods to get some protein powder (because even though I can’t afford it, my body is telling me I need it!), then to my apartment. Where I promptly had a mini-meltdown and cried for a bit. But, then I got busy and kept myself moving and even went to the apartment gym for an hour. Started work on Monday and it was a full day new employee orientation, then training the rest of the week. Gah can’t wait for the weekend, even though it will be a bit lonely, because I am tired from all the learning!
So eating last week was awful, but the weekend went well and I have been doing good at work and for dinners. I have to think logically this weekend and for the next three weeks cause I won’t get paid until the 30th, which is a long time, so hopefully I can keep myself on track and not buy snacks or anything. Which is going to be rough since my work place is right above a huge food court! I told a coworker that it was Heaven and Hell walking through that to the office!
I started using the apartment gym which is just a little bit lacking but hey, it’s free. I am still working out my schedule to figure out if morning or evening workouts are better but for now I am doing 30 minutes on the treadmill in the mornings. However – working in DC and taking the metro I try to get more exercise by climbing the escalators instead if just riding them, and oh man. The one where I get off at for work is so big I can sooo tell I have not been on a stairclimber in over a year! Embarrassingly out of breath! But, I will conquer that too.
