New Years Resolutions – Week 23 Update

Week 23 UpdateSo how is everyone? This one will be short and sweet – not a lot going on around here. Same old ups and downs, but my eating has been better, so I am happy about that. My SIL and I are going to try and start (when she has time) to do a workout video after I get off work at 4. Any help I can get to get my butt moving I will take!  And ps – Sunday we did Jillian Michaels 6 Week Six Pack and oh, man, am I in some serious need in the working out department! Sore to say the least. Here is my New Years Resolutions – Week 23 Update.

So I didn’t mention it last week because I hadn’t gotten the results yet but I had all my heart testing. The echo cardiogram, heart-rate monitor, and carotid echo thing. It was really pretty cool to do, especially the echo cardiogram. It is pretty much an ultra-sound of the heart, and I got to watch the different colors and valves and everything. That test was at 7am on Monday though and I was so tired and seriously irritated by the time I got the heart-rate monitor on! The heart echo only too about 30 minutes then I had to wait until 9:30 to get the monitor on. Gah! And, the “coffee” shop they had at the center was supposed to open at 8am and it Healthy Heart Foodsopened late. Grr. But the monitor got put on and I was told no showering or getting it wet. Gross right – 48 hours with no real shower? I did go walking outside those two days (and sweated) but wanted to see if any exercise would do anything to the heart rate. Turned that in on Wednesday and was seriously ready for it to get off me – I was so itchy from all the tape and suctions. I had the follow-up on Friday. Good and bad news – nothing wrong with my heart or neck to justify the dizziness (good news), but no clue why the dizziness is happening (bad news). But the doctor kept saying that he never really gets to see a young persons heart so it was a real pleasure to get to see a healthy-working heart. Pff. Thanks – not to be bitter but I wanted some answers. The doc did say that he has seen some gastric bypass patients who have relatively normal blood work (sodium) and blood pressures, even though mine tends to be lower, have dizziness and fading vision problems. He suggested buying a blood pressure cuff to track my pressure to see if that is the cause of the issue. He also said, and he made sure to say that as a heart doc he would never tell anyone else this, to eat and consume more sodium . . . Not the first doc to tell me this. So – results are awesome, nothing wrong with my heart. But no clue why I get dizzy spells. Yay.
